Current courses
2024 to present. How to design and analyse experiments in the social sciences. We cover randomisation, power analysis, and causal inference, with worked examples in R.
2024 to present. Computational tools for data science. Topics include version control, the command line, cloud computing, and reproducible workflows.
2025 to present. An introduction to AI for undergraduates. We look at how large language models work, how to write effective prompts, and how to think about ethics, bias, policy, and governance.
2024 to present. Python programming for data analysis. The course walks through data wrangling, visualisation, and basic statistical modelling.

Policing Crime and Deviance Lincoln
2021 to 2024. Theories of policing, criminal behaviour, and deviance, with attention to accountability, legitimacy, and comparative systems. Co-taught with Anthony Ellis and Elena Gaschino.
Human Rights Lincoln
2021 to 2024. Foundations, institutions, and contemporary debates in human rights, drawing on political theory, international law, and empirical case studies. Co-taught with Nick Cowen and Aris Trantidis.
Fall 2019. Causes and consequences of political violence. Topics include civil wars, terrorism, state repression, and organised crime.
Winter 2019. Research design and quantitative methods for political science. The course covers measurement, inference, and data analysis in R.
